Woke up last weekend craving french toast. And, yup…you guessed it –
I didn’t just want to make classic french toast, so decided to go to the farmers market, get creative and make them into “sticks”…then sprinkled cinnamon and coco palm sugar on top for extra flavor!
Here’s what I used and how I made it:
Ingredients:
– 6 slices of Bread (I used fresh egg bread/”challah”. Use bread of choice)
– 2-3 Eggs
– 1/4 cup Milk (Dairy or almond or hemp or soy)
– 1 tbsp Coconut Oil (butter or earth balance)
– 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
– 2 tbsp Cinnamon
– 2 tbsp Coconut Palm Sugar
– 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
– Optional: sprinkle with maple syrup, honey or brown rice syrup
1. Slice bread
2. Slice into 1-inch strips like “sticks”
3. Whisk egg, milk and vanilla extract together in bowl.
4. Soak bread into egg-milk mixture until bread is absorbed. Beware of soaking too long, which will make it too soggy to pick up and cook.
5. Coat pan with coconut oil.
6. Place each stick carefully on pan.
7. Cook until brown.
8. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar until coated. Sprinkle with salt to taste (salty and sweet tastes delish!)
9. Optional- sprinkle with honey or maple syrup.
10. Voila! Enjoy!
Serves 2. (*But, please note- amounts may be slightly off, as I didn’t measure when making it!)
Be delicious. Be sweet. Be well.
xoxo
be well,
